Welcome

The Vinton Presbyterian Church is a welcoming body of Christ, dedicated to service, fellowship, teaching, and outreach in the Vinton, Iowa community.  We have many programs to fit the needs of our diverse membership.  And we’d love to have you visit us in person!       Worship is each Sunday at 10:30 a.m., followed by a fellowship time.  Both adult and children’s Sunday school happen before worship, beginning at 9 a.m.

If you have questions, please feel free to send me an email at: pastorcranemunoz@gmail.com or call the church office Monday-Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

    In Christ,

Our Mission

We are a body of believers who come together not just to worship, but to live out our faith in Christ.  We are dedicated to service in our community and around the world, and we seek to fulfill Christ's command that we love one another.

To that end, we have many mission and outreach projects and programs that take place throughout the year.

The Presbyterian Church and Covid-19

In the midst of Covid-19 within Iowa and around the nation, we hourly find out new information about the disease.

We are at an unprecedented moment in the life of our church community. At least within our lifespan, there has not been a health crisis, or potential crisis, of this size and magnitude.  We do not know how and when it will spread within the United States. We can only rely on the best science and information available to us.

With the majority of our church members in the most vulnerable age populations, we must consider how to proceed.  While we do not want to panic or act irrationally, the best information available indicates that early isolation is the best way to minimize impact on communities.

If we are able to slow the transmission of the disease, we can save lives. This sounds dramatic. It *feels* dramatic. But that is what the best science and research currently indicates. We cannot measure how much we prevent, but I believe it is better to feel foolish later for acting too soon than to have regrets later for not acting soon enough.

The church will suspend Sunday worship services and in-person meetings starting Friday, March 13, as we await new information daily.

Already, other PC(USA) churches are beginning their own plans to suspend services beginning this weekend or sometime during next week.

A plan for how to keep the church community connected will be in the works, including live stream service options and more. As this is uncharted territory, we will do our best to act faithfully in Christ.
